Supplier Sourcing & Development in Türkiye
For many European and international buyers, Türkiye offers what a second source should: industrial depth, short transit times to Europe and a customs union with the EU for industrial goods. The difficulty is rarely finding a supplier. It is confirming, through appraisal, site audits and trial supply, which suppliers can meet your technical, quality and delivery requirements consistently.
We act as your procurement team on the ground. We identify candidate suppliers, appraise and audit them against your requirements, and, where a promising supplier is not yet ready, run the development plan that closes the gap.
Our approach
Translate the requirement.
We start from your specification, drawings, quality requirements and commercial expectations, and turn them into an appraisal framework a Turkish supplier can be measured against. Where specifications rely on standards or practices that differ between markets, we flag them before the search starts.
Map the supply market.
Industrial capability in Türkiye is concentrated in specific regions and clusters. We build a long list from our networks, industry associations, trade registers and the supply chains of comparable buyers, then narrow it to suppliers with the right process capability, capacity and customer profile.
Appraise and pre-qualify.
Shortlisted suppliers are assessed on financial stability, technical capability, quality management system, capacity and dependence on other customers, export experience and compliance. Desk appraisal is followed by site audits, carried out with your quality team or on its behalf.
Test before you commit.
Samples, first-article inspection and trial orders confirm that what was seen in the audit is what arrives at your door. Commercial terms, Incoterms, packaging and documentation are agreed before volumes are placed.
Develop and monitor.
Where a supplier has the right fundamentals but gaps in its processes, documentation or quality system, we agree a development plan with clear milestones. Once supply starts, we monitor performance and follow up non-conformance locally, on site.
Key themes
A category that depends on one distant region carries a risk whether or not it has failed yet. A qualified source in Türkiye can shorten lead times, reduce the stock held against disruption and give the buyer a credible alternative in every negotiation with the incumbent. The value only materialises, however, if the second source is qualified to the same standard as the first. A second source that has not been properly appraised is not resilience; it is a different risk.
Buyers often reject a supplier that falls just short of their requirements and keep searching. Where the capability gaps are specific and manageable, and the supplier has the right equipment, workforce and management commitment, supplier development may offer a practical alternative to extending the search. It works when the milestones are measurable and both sides understand what the relationship is worth.
Working with a supplier at a distance makes communication, verification and problem-solving slower. Local follow-up, in the supplier's language and on site, supports timely communication, on-site verification and the prompt resolution of non-conformance, without the cost of a permanent buying office.
